A sheltered but brave 12-year-old heiress named Sarah has been imprisoned at Mother Mayi’s Boarding School for Girls of Quality ever since her father went missing. Fearful that he might be in some trouble, Sara escapes in order to find the Rose Tree, a magical place that sends lost girls to their true homes. Along the way she joins up with a surly and streetwise runaway named Hanzi, and together they find their way to the colorful inhabitants of the Rose Tree. Here, deep in the forest, Sarah and Hanzi learn that sometimes family can present itself in the strangest of places. It’s Never Never Land, Villa Villekulla, and Sherwood Forest all rolled into one timeless place.
